How to care for your hand-tied hair extensions

  • ​​Brush your hair thoroughly before getting it wet.
  • Wash twice with a moisturizing shampoo.
  • Be sure to gently scrub around weft lines with your fingertips.
  • Use a moisturizing conditioner or mask and gently work through the ends. Leave on for 3-5 mins before rinsing. Gently towel dry hair and apply a leave-in conditioner that contains heat protectant. Be sure to work it all the way through the ends.
  • Set your dryer to medium heat. Make sure to dry the weft lines completely. This is crucial to maintain the longevity of your extensions. Gently finger comb as you’re drying to help with detangling.
  • Apply an oil/serum to your extensions, making sure to brush well with an extension brush. Hold the weft line while brushing and lift the hair to brush in-between the rows to prevent matting
  • Braid or style your hair into a bun before bed to protect it from damage while sleeping. Use a weightless serum to lock-in moisture.

What NOT to do

  • DO NOT sleep with wet hair. This can cause matting and/or issues with the hair weft itself, resulting in irreparable damage.
  • DO NOT submerge hair in salt or chlorine water. We advise wearing your hair in a high bun while lounging in the water. If you decide to swim, wet your hair first and apply a leave-in conditioner, then loosely braid it. Be sure to rinse well ASAP and shampoo and condition.
  • DO NOT USE sunscreen with Avobenzone ​(Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane).* It can and WILL turn hair extensions orange, especially blondes! Read the ingredient label before applying. We always advise using caution when applying any sunscreen

Products to avoid

There are some products/ingredients you should definitely avoid. Talk to your stylist to ensure you are using the correct products on your hair and always read the ingredient label before applying.
Avoid the following:​

  • Protein dominate based products.
 This includes Olaplex. causes brittle hair and breakage
  • Quaternium 80,95,16
 encourages fast-acting blow-dry and causes hair breakage
  • Sunscreen with Avobenzone
 (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane)causes discoloration - see above*
  • Moroccan Oil
 may cause discoloration
